Day 23 (June 27th): Head Home to Atlanta
Woke up at 4:30 AM, showered and packed up the rest of our stuff. The taxi arrived on schedule at 5:00 AM. Since it was so early we got to the airport in about 15 minutes. We had a lot of time to kill so we went to the Lufthansa Business Lounge (Al has a lot of mileage with Lufthansa). They had cereal, rolls and some other tasty little snacks set up. I sampled pretty much everything since it was there. We then got on our 7:30 AM flight from Dusseldorf to Frankfurt that took about 30 minutes. Our flight from Frankfurt to Atlanta left at 10:45 AM so we had a couple of hours to relax at the Lufthansa Business Lounge in Frankfurt. They too had a bunch of good snacks and some beer on tap. Sat down in front of the TV with some Japanese crackers and poured myself a beer. It was time for our flight so we headed to the gate and got on to the plane. Again we flew first class so we had the individual reclining sits with remote controls. It's a nice setup between the massage chair and the personal video display. I wasn't very tired so I watched Invincible and The Shooter. Both movies happened to star Mark Walhberg. Invincible was good but The Shooter was nothing special. On our flight to Germany the food was very good but on this flight it was more like the standard airplane food. We arrived in Atlanta around 2:30 PM and by the time we went thru passport control and got our bags it was closer to 4:00 PM. The Turners picked us up at the airport along with Fuzzy. It was very hot out (90+ degrees) especially compared to Germany. Drove home and then went to Houston's for dinner since Al and I were both craving good beef. We shared a nice hamburger and Steak salad. We enjoyed it very much. Went home and passed out around 8:00 PM (2:00 AM Germany time). We were psyched to be in our own bed with AC.
